Let’s start this post out by being upfront and honest here…. I am NOT a morning person. I’ve tried. I really have but no matter what you say, or try to convince me of, it just can not happen for me. And after almost 20 years of marriage, and TRYING for my husband (an EXTREME morning person), I’ve just come to grips with it.
Coffee has helped.
But today, I thought I’d share most of what I do on a day that I am just working from home. Which is actually busier for me than a day of substitute teaching (which I do 1-2 days a week) or running other errands.
We are also going to go with a weekday, in case that wasn’t applied when I said a day I work from home. Because actually give me a Saturday when the boys all have plans, and I can knock a lot out!
So when I don’t work outside our home, I usually wake up around 6:50am. That way I can make sure the boys are all awake by 7am. The 10 minutes are for me to wash my face, drag myself to the coffeemaker (where my wonderful hubby USUALLY has coffee already brewed for me), get a cup of energy until I realize I’m actually awake, then if boys aren’t up yet, I get them up as well.
I also get a cup of water at this point (usually while I give my coffee a minute or two to cool a bit) and chug at least 8 oz of water. I find this helps tremendously with any belly issues I might get during the day (I am prone to them). It just really helps how I feel in the morning.
GET DRESSED and DO MAKEUP
EVERY. SINGLE. DAY. I get dressed in actual clothes. Like jeans and a sweater or t-shirt. See THIS post on what I wear in a week as a mom. This helps me mentally get myself in the game. This also helps when someone shows up at my door unexpectedly and I don’t want to look like I just crawled out of bed at 1:30 in the afternoon.
After get dressed, I put on makeup. I usually use a toner, then face lotion first to prime my skin (don’t forget, I washed my face earlier). Then I always use foundation or a CC cream and concealer. Momma has the skin of a 13 year old girl with wrinkles, so lets just move on…
I also always do my brows, either with a pencil, or with a brown gel. Brow gel is for natural quick days.
This time of year, I especially hold tight to my bronzer. I also use this to contour, but mostly just to add color to this sad, pale face. I also use blush everyday.
If I did nothing else, these things would make me feel like I was finally at step one. Some women have wonderful skin, and wake up at this step. I, on the other hand, have to take 10-15 minutes to get there.
After this, I use one of my new favorite eye shadow palettes to add just a little color back to my eyes so I don’t look like I’m sick. My new favorite it THIS palette from Too Faced, Natural. Seriously, you can go full glam on this palette to simply add a little something to make you look like a natural beauty.
Then lastly, I add mascara. If I could choose a top 5 makeup must haves list- mascara would be on the list every time.
MOVE OUT SOLDIERS!
By the time I get my makeup on, I check on the boys, make sure the dogs get fed and let out, then we head out to go to school.
I take my youngest to school, while my older two boys can drive themselves and my number 3 to school.
BREAKFAST and READING
When I get back, I grab some more coffee (duh), and grab some breakfast. Right now, my favorite breakfast is a gluten free granola that I get from Aldi, and almond milk.
While I eat, I usually read my Bible and journal. I also then check up on emails.
GET TO WORK
Then I check up on my blog. Posts get scheduled at 10am EST. So I make sure I link all of my social media to the posts, and visit other people’s sites that I enjoy as well.
By the time I’m done with all of that, it’s usually time for lunch.
Well, I hope you enjoyed this look into my morning routine. Do you have a part of your morning routine that is super important to you? Share it with me in the comments! I’d love to hear it!
Also before you go, don’t forget to subscribe to our emails! That way you know when I post again! (usually posting Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday) Also, leave the link to your blog, if you have one. I’d like to check it out! I’m always looking for like-minded blogs!
