Encouragement My Life with Boys Stay at Home Mom

I’m Perfect- Aren’t YOU? Making Comparisons

Do you ever find yourself making comparisons to other moms? Like they are perfect? When we are honest, we know no one is perfect!

The other day I found myself screen shooting a bunch of funny Letterboard quotes and sayings. Later when I looked back at them, they all had a very similar theme.

They all had to do with imperfections and failures.

i got it all together- Perfect Mom
I got it all together, but I forgot where I put it.

Do I strive for perfection? Yes, I do! Do I achieve it? Absolutely NOT!

So it really got me thinking about how we treat each other as mothers (and fathers). We hold others to an impossible standard, as much as we do to ourselves in secret.

she was tired
She believed she could, but she was really tired, so she didn’t.

While we are judging that momma with a screaming kid in the middle of the grocery store, why don’t we think back to the time we thought it was a good idea to go shopping during nap time, and our child screamed the entire time.

Or instead of getting impatient with the poor lady with a child on her hip and 2 in her cart, dumping her purse on the counter trying to find her wallet, why don’t we think about the time we stuck our debit card in our back pocket after pumping gas and had to tear everything apart to remember that it was in our pocket the entire time.

somedays i amaze myself- perfect mom
Somedays I amaze myself, other days I look for my phone while talking on it.

Does this mean we just need to accept defeat or failure? NO! We need to try to always become the best version of ourselves. BUT that doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t extend each other some grace every now and then.

In Closing

So the next time you see the pregnant lady struggling to pick up a 50 lb bag of dog food, help her! The next time you see a red faced, sweating mom with a crying child in the store, give her a hug, or tell her you remember the days and it WILL get better.

We all want the world to be a better place but that doesn’t mean that we judge it according to our standards and it will instantly get better.

That means we need to encourage each other, we need to extend grace even though the person may have done something really dumb, we need to make sure we show people love when they are at the end of their rope…

Do you have any stories you’d like to share? Of people extending you grace or encouraging you on a bad day? Please share in the comments!
