Learning how to live with less is hard, especially if you don’t know how to wear the things that you own in multiple ways. Today, I am going to show you 5 Ways to Wear 1 Item. And that will be a white t-shirt.
With us in the States transitioning into Spring, we are all thinking about how we can wear layers- something light for the sunnier afternoons, under something that will keep us warmer in the morning and evening.
Today’s white t-shirt that I have on if from GAP. You can have ANY kind of white t-shirt that you’d like, I just got this on sale from an outlet close to wear I live.
The great thing about a whiter-shirt is that you can wear just about anything with a white t-shirt. I could pull many more things out of my closet to go with it, and it would work well! So, for the sake of time, I just pulled 5 items out of my closet, and kept the shoes all of the same: my favorites that my son got me off of Amazon. You can find them HERE. I’ve worn them a LOT and couldn’t be happier with the quality of them!
So without further ado, here are the outfits:
First, here is just a t-shirt and jeans with my favorite sneakers. This can be an outfit in of itself, on a warm spring afternoon. You can add some of the following to the outfit to make it warmer and more appropriate for different occasions.
Here I added one of my favorite jackets that I wear like a blazer or sweater. It’s SO from Kohl’s, but I bought it a few years ago and they don’t sell it anymore. It’s a military style jacket that most brands sell. I have a green one from GAP and this gray/blue one. Here is one that is similar, but looks like it runs small so order a size up. I love it’s buttons and pockets!.
This look is a little nicer with my taupe colored Ralph Lauren blazer that I got from Ebay. See that story HERE. You could add some dressy mules or other shoe to this to dress it up more.
Here I paired my outfit with a denim shirt from Old Navy. You can find a similar one here that I like a lot better, especially because of the detailing on it. Denim shirts go with so many things!
Last but not least, the outfit paired with a sweater. I am wearing it over my shoulders, which adds a little warmth but when the evening turns cold, you can slip it on over the t-shirt! The sweater is from Bass from 2 years ago. Here are 2 that are similar: THIS ONE is thinner but less than $20. And THIS ONE is more expensive but soooo pretty and 100% cotton.
Basics of my Wardrobe
My way of picking out clothing is making sure that it is going to last (what materials is it made from), making sure I can wear it multiple ways, and will I like it next year or the year after (is it trendy right now but it will be out of style in 6 months?). If you check out a minimalist wardrobe or capsule wardrobe, you will see how I try to pick out things for my closet.
Thanks for stopping by today, and if you haven’t already, make sure you follow my blog! I throw in style posts periodically as well as many other “mom stuff”. I post Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday. Hopefully I will see you again on Friday!
